ENJOY THE SILLY SEASON WITH THESE CHRISTMAS TIPPLES
13 Dec 2017
With Christmas just around the corner, festive plans are now well and truly underway. For those who have the stressful job of hosting the Christmas brunch, lunch or dinner this year – we thought we would help you all out!
No doubt you have your meal prep sorted, but no celebration is complete without a beverage of some variety. We’ve done some research and found the perfect tipples to serve up for your chosen Christmas occasion.
Bubbles for brunch
Hosting a brunch to start the festivities early? Don’t forget the bubbles! Try serving a mimosa – a delicious and simple concoction made up of champagne and freshly squeezed orange juice – to kick off the celebrations. Looking for something a little more out there? Than a bellini is the perfect drink for you. Take it up a notch by mixing sparkling prosecco with peach puree and serving in a champagne flute. Delicious and nutritious, and the perfect drink for early morning antics! Try the Brown Brother’s Prosecco from Liquorland for only $20.00
Sharing is caring
To complement your decadent Christmas spread with all the trimmings, why not whip up a refreshing shared beverage that packs a punch (excuse the pun). Try a seasonal fruit punch, blending fresh fruit of your choice with a selected spirit – gin, vodka, rum, take your pick! Here’s a great recipe for a summer berry party punch from Taste.com, or get creative and make up your own – just remember to blend in some soda and ice for volume. Our tip – add a nice sparkling rose, such as the Chandon NV Rose from Liquorland , for extra bubbles.
For those enjoying an afternoon of Christmas celebrations in true-blue Aussie style – by the poolside – than a dark and stormy is the perfect thirst-quenching option for you. While it sounds totally mysterious and the polar opposite to our usual sunny Christmas day (unless, of course, a summer storm rolls in), it’s actually quite light and refreshing – mixing spiced rum, ginger beer and lime together topped with ice. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum will do the trick, and is only $40 from Liquorland.
There’s nothing quite like an extravagant feast for Christmas dinner, and what better way to add to the merriments than with a tropical White Christmas Mojito! It may sound technical, but this recipe from Half Baked Harvest helps make the process all that more easy – not to mention, it sounds too delicious to not DIY! Pick up a bottle of Malibu Caribbean White Rum at Liquorland for $27.00
If you aren’t already twenty minutes into Love Actually by this stage of the night, is it even Christmas? For the perfect festive nightcap we suggest Baileys on ice or if you want to carry on with that holiday spirit, then whip up the ol’ universal favourite – Eggnog. Jamie Oliver’s Eggnog recipe will most likely guarantee a cup full of Christmas, and by having it on ice you are turning a drink made purposely for the winter months, into an enjoyably sweet after dinner tipple.
Happy Christmas – drink responsibly!
