Pick of the brunch - where to eat in Surfers Paradise
12 Apr 2018
If Gold Coasters could be remembered for anything it would be our ability to brunch. Yes, our city is beautiful with manicured green gardens, clean, white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water but boy, do we know how to sniff out a brunch hot spot. The magical time slot located somewhere between breakfast and lunch, the brunch has become somewhat of a Gold Coast institution.
Whether you are a visitor to the Gold Coast from Queensland or interstate, looking for the best spot to get your smashed avo on sourdough, or a local wanting to try a new brunch spot, read on for crave-inducing, mid-morning culinary delights.
Baritalia Modern Italian Flavours
Looking for an Italian infusion and a perfect posy to enjoy the outdoor ambience? Grab a perch at Baritalia, Surfers Paradise’s best-known Italian eatery. Open from 8am daily, this little piece of Italy on the Gold Coast is a bruncher’s paradise. We recommend Baritalia’s version of avo on toast which has a mouth-watering combo of avo, ricotta, cherry tomatoes, toasted pumpkin seeds, quinoa, EVOO and rocket on seeded sourdough. You couldn’t fit more superfoods into your brunch if you tried!
Sardjiono’s Italian Restaurant
Feel the warmth of the Gold Coast sun on your back and the smiles of the friendly, welcoming staff at Gold Coast brunch location Sardjiono’s. With perfectly positioned alfresco setting, there has never been a more ideal place to sip on your latte then this Gold Coast fav. Here the food is made to order using on the freshest ingredients and local produce setting you up for the perfect start to your day.

El Patio de Cuba Surfers Paradise
If you’ve woken late or are looking for a location more midday than morning, high tail it to Surfers Paradise’s best cuban-inspired eatery El Patio de Cuba. Here you will find a menu showcasing the best flavours inspired from areas such as Spain and the Caribbean. Take our advice and order a salad (there are four tasty varieties) or the Santiago Sizzle Plate. If brunch turns into an afternoon affair, the El Patio de Cuba mojitos are a must-try. When in Cuba right?
Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co.
Even the healthiest Gold Coast local understands some mornings require a burger and there is no better place to visit than Betty’s Burgers and Concrete Co. Betty’s is a local fav with its trendy interiors and kitch branding reminiscent of a 1950s burger shack. As to be expected burgers are the specialty here, along with the concretes, delicious, creamy, homemade frozen custard. Do yourself a favour and schedule in a visit to Betty’s for the perfect pre-Games kick-start.
The Local Tavern
With a party atmosphere, plenty of sport on the big screens and live music, The Local Tavern makes it into our best brunch list because of its commitment to the love of sport. Nowhere else in Surfers Paradise can you catch live sports from a more idyllic location while eating your brunch delights, making it a must-visit. The hot plates fire up in the bistro at 11am with the Beef and Guinness Pie, Bangers and Mash and Irish Stew making our top picks from the menu.
PappaRich Malaysian Delights
While on the Gold Coast you must try Surfers Paradise’s favourite Malaysian-style brunch option, PappaRich. With plenty of delicious, healthy brunch options why not eat as the Malay do and opt for crunchy, yet super soft Hainan bread. Have it topped with the traditional fave, peanut butter or kaya (coconut jam) drizzled with condensed milk, sprinkled with sugar or the much-loved French toast twist for the sweet tooth. All PappaRich breakfast items can be bundled up with a serve of egg, either half boiled, fried or scrambled for an extra protein hit and a hot drink. We recommend the famous Pappa White Coffee for a morning caffeine hit with a difference.
