5 steps to the perfect smile

There is more to a beautiful, healthy smile than brushing twice a day.
1. Brush up on the best way to brush
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, after breakfast and dinner, using an electric toothbrush with a soft round bristle head.
Dental plaque accumulates along the gum line, so place your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to focus on where the teeth meet the gums.
First slowly steer your toothbrush along the outer surface of the upper teeth, before moving the brush head to cover the inside of the teeth, and finally slowly move around the arch. Brush the lower teeth in the same way.
Let the electric brush do the work by simply directing it over the surfaces of the teeth but be gentle as vigorous movement can damage fragile gums.
Use toothpaste with fluoride for cavity protection, or as recommended by your dental hygienist, and replace your brush head when the bristles start to fray.
2. Floss like a boss
Take two minutes out of your day to floss to protect against developing gum disease and decay from plaque left between the teeth.
Brushing alone can only remove plaque from the surface of your teeth and is therefore only half the picture of a good daily dental health routine.
Ensure you floss like a boss at least once a day, ideally after meals or at least before bedtime, using enough floss to wrap around your index fingers and hold with your thumbs.
Slide floss between tooth contacts with a back and forth motion, being sure not to snap the floss through as it may injure gum tissue, and keeping floss as short as possible between the fingers.
Once the floss is between your teeth, wrap it into a “C” shape around the surface of each opposing tooth and move the floss up and down the tooth surface four or five times.
3. Eat green for great teeth
Eating less sugar as part of a healthy, balanced diet is the best way to ensure you look and feel your best – giving you plenty of reasons to show off that beautiful, cavity-free smile!
