Do you have a great physio?

A niggly annoying knee issue can be put to the side for so long, but eventually that inner voice becomes insistent and something needs to be done. However with so many allied health options to investigate, most of us simply head on in the our GP and get a prescription for some anti-inflammatories.

Health

Our resident Physio at Central Physio and Health, says there is so much that can be accomplished with professional physiotherapy, before you head into surgery with a problem that is no longer treatable by non-invasive means. The key is to start addressing any issues as soon as possible to maximise recovery potential. And ladies and gents… self diagnosis is a road to nowhere!

A physiotherapist requires at a minimum a four year bachelor’s degree. They are highly qualified to perform a multitude of treatments for a wide range of problems. From respiratory issues to movement correction, a physio can establish treatment goals and direct your focus to achieving them. They can work in conjunction with treatments prescribed by your doctor, to ensure a holistic approach. Their experience and training will enable correct diagnosis of your problem and if they can’t establish that diagnosis your physio will recommend assessment from the appropriate health team.

They see countless numbers of people who had given up hope of recovery, and sure enough, can attest that recovery is possible for most of them. That’s worth a couple of appointments, don’t you think?

So in the case of the gammy knee, it may be a case of your feet causing your knee to move incorrectly, or it might be a muscle weakness on one side that results in bones being pulled the wrong way, or it may be a case of cartilage damage… without speaking to someone who will look at you as a whole, the problem will never just ‘go away’ on its own. So what are you waiting for?
